LENSAINDONESIA.COM: Penegakan hukum terhadap penggunaan alat tangkap trawl (pukat) sangat lemah. Koalisi Rakyat untuk Keadilan Perikanan (Kiara) menuding pemerintah melakukan pembiaran praktek ilegal itu di perairan Indonesia. Hal itu disampaikan oleh Sekjen Kiara, Abdul Halim.
“Menteri (Kelautan dan Perikanan) Cicip melakukan pembiaran, 2 nelayan tradisional Indonesia meninggal dunia akibat lemahnya penegakan hukum terhadap pemakai trawl,” ungkap Sekjen Kiara Abdul Halim saat dihubungi LICOM, Sabtu (06/04/13).

Halim melansir, sudah dua orang nelayan, Syahrudin (31) dan Suparman (25), tewas dalam insiden sepanjang Januari-Maret 2013. Mereka tewas saat berusaha menghalau pemakai trawl di Langkat Sumatera Utara.
Menurut Halim, salahsatu sebab keselamatan nelayan tidak terjangkau pemerintah adalah akibat tidak tersebarnya kartu nelayan yang merupakan program Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan (KKP).
“Sebagian mereka belum mendapatkan kartu nelayan,” tuturnya.
Hal itu, kata Halim, belum ditambah dengan permasalahan lain yang dihadapi para nelayan. Faktanya, privatisasi laut, kelangkaan BBM dan persaingan antar anak buah kapal (ABK) asing dan lokal masih dialami para nelayan.
“Fakta lain adalah peran perempuan nelayan yang sulit mencari tambahan keuangan suami,” tandasnya.@priokustiadi
